Official Training Camp Thread

With training camp officially opening tomorrow, I figured I'd get a thread going.

Any thoughts on who the tough cuts will be?

What rookies will step in right away?

Who will win the position battles?

I am excited to see if Anthony Clement can step in and add size to the line.

Would really like to see mayo out, so we will see if the pats can get that done. As far as position battles go, chad jackson making it up to a 2 or 4 reciever being healthy..i like welker in the slot so its either gonna be gaffney or jackson.

Cuts thats a tough one, im more excited about maybe another play SEAU!

Yeah, Anthony Clement is a big guy at 6-8.

Anyone interested in Steve Fifita? He might be the answer as a backup NT.

And I would love to see Junior back! He has so much intensity... its unrivaled. Plus, he can still jack some bitches up :)

And I agree with what you said about Welker in the slot. Thats what he is... a third receiver who is the 2nd target. The starting #2 spot will go between Jackson and Gaffney and maybe even Washington but i doubt that.

Okay... thought about some training camp battles... and here's a few:

Back-up QB:

Kevin O'Connell is going to be third qb. But, there will be a battle for 2nd between Cassel and Gutierrez, and in the end, one of them will most likely be cut or traded.

2nd Wide Receiver:

Only 2 spots are in stone. Moss is #1, Welker is #3 in the slot. The number 2, 4, and 5 spots will be fought out.

Right Tackle:
Nick Kaczur vs. Ryan O'Callaghan vs. Oliver Ross vs. Anthony Clement. I've always been an O'Callaghan fan, but I think I might become a Clement fan... the guy towers over everyone.

Inside Linebacker #2:
One starting position on the inside is up for grabs. It will be between Jerod Mayo and Victor Hobson. Obviously, Mayo will start down the road and get significant playing time as a rookie, but I think Hobson is going to surprise some people.

Back-up Outside Linebacker:
This will be between Pierre Woods, Shawn Crable, and even Vince Redd (a guy who I really like).

2nd Cornerback:
Who is going to start next to Ellis Hobbs? This might be the tightest battle, as the likes of Fernando Bryant (my pick), Jason Webster, Lewis Sanders, Terrence Wheatley, and possibly Jonathan Wilhite will be competing for that position.

Of course, there will be many more battles... but thats a quick rundown. I think I may turn this into a main page post. Haha

Jake they also now added T.Tyler into that mix

I dont have a problem with M.Wright but i dont see him as a NT, espcially in a 3-4!!! i like the bigger boddies they have this year and maybe one of those guys can emerge as a solid 2nd option
